Four Elizabethtown men arrested in connection to a shooting death last month behind a Radcliff apartment complex, will face the death penalty if convicted of murder at trial, according to Hardin County Commonwealth’s Attorney Shane Young.
Young intends to file aggravators in the case when 20 year-old Tyler Lee Lawrence, 22 year-old Elijah Da’shon Barnett, 27 year-old Donyale Antoine Jones and 21 year-old Temorris Mandrette Davis Jr. are arraigned Tuesday morning in Hardin Circuit Court.
The men were indicted by a Hardin County grand jury Thursday on complicity to commit murder and complicity to commit first-degree robbery charges. Lawrence also was indicted on a tampering with physical evidence charge and Barnett was indicted on two counts of possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and first-degree persistent felony offender.
The men were arrested in connection to the May 22 shooting death of 25 year-old Lashard Harrison of Vine Grove, a 2012 graduate of North Hardin High School.
The murder charge is death penalty eligible because of the alleged robbery, an aggravating factor, leading to the fatal shooting. Harrison was shot multiple times, according to the Hardin County Coroner’s Office and witness accounts, and found dead in a parking lot behind the complex at 1508 Pin Oak Court in Radcliff.
According to arrest citations, the men went to Radcliff with the intention of robbing Harrison of money they had paid him for drugs.
The men admitted to setting up a “drug deal for a quantity of pills” and during the transaction, the men exchanged cash with Harrison for the pills.
As Harrison turned to leave, Barnett and Jones shot Harrison multiple times causing his death, according to the citations.
With Harrison shot, the men then retrieved the cash and fled in Jones’ vehicle.
