An Elizabethtown man was arrested Tuesday night and charged with two counts of attempted murder after a domestic altercation Saturday afternoon.
David Allen Hill, 39, reportedly attacked his wife and 14-year-old son with a hatchet following an argument.
An arrest warrant was issued Monday and Hill was arrested by a Hardin County Sheriff’s Office deputy at 7:26 p.m. Tuesday.
According to the arrest warrant, Hill swung a hatchet at his wife “trying to hit her with the hatchet.” During the altercation, they both ended up holding onto each other to get to the hatchet.
Hill then slammed the woman into the trunk of her father’s SUV by the throat so hard it put a large dent in the vehicle. The couple’s son then tackled Hill to get him off his mother and Hill reportedly swung the hatchet at him.
Once his wife and son had left, Hill allegedly used the hatchet to damage a vehicle.
Hill had a emergency protective order/domestic violence order against him that was issued March 4, 2019. According to Hardin County Detention Center records, this is the third time he has been arrested for violating the EPO/DVO since March 29, 2019.
He is being held in lieu of a $100,000 cash bond in the Hardin County Detention Center.
He also is charged with first-degree criminal mischief and violation of the EPO/DVO.
