
A Meade County man is facing numerous charges including manslaughter after an altercation that could have resulted in a “medical emergency” which claimed the life of a Meade County Sheriff Deputy.
Terry Ray Gonterman, 50 of Payneville, was observed by Meade County Deputy Chris Hulsey tossing items into a weeded area as police were executing a search warrant on the property at 1299 Greer Road Saturday (9/21) evening. in an attempt to apprehend Gonterman, Deputy Hulsey became involved with an altercation with the suspect with detectives assisting Deputy Hulsey. Gonterman finally complied with officer’s requests and was detained. Deputy Hulsey retrieved a metal film canister that contained two bags of suspected methamphetamine.
As officer’s continued their search of the property, Deputy Hulsey began to have a medical emergency with officers administering cpr until medical help arrived at the scene. Hulsey was pronounced dead at Harrison County Hospital in Corydon, Indiana.
Gonterman is facing charges including trafficking in a controlled substance, drug paraphernalia, manslaughter, tampering with physical evidence and resisting arrest and was lodged in the Meade County Detention Center on a $100,000 full cash bond. The investigation remains ongoing by the Meade County Sheriff’s Department.
