
A Meade County man arrested just before a Meade County sheriff’s deputy died of an apparent heart attack was in court Wednesday (9/25).
Terry Gonterman made a brief appearance Wednesday (9/25) morning in Meade County District Court where a not guilty plea was entered for Gonterman by Judge Steven Crebessa on charges of manslaughter, assault on a police officer, trafficking in methamphetamine, tampering with evidence, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest.
Gonterman is charged with manslaughter in connection with the death of Deputy Chris Hulsey Saturday (9/21). Gonterman and Hulsey had an altercation where allegedly resisted Hulsey’s commands to roll over onto his stomach by bracing and tensing his body. Shortly after the struggle with Gonterman, Deputy Hulsey fell to ground with difficulty of breathing and suffered a fatal heart attack.
Gonterman told the court that he needs an attorney. He remains in custody at the Meade County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear back in court on October 2.
