Starting Friday, anyone visiting a public facility or shopping at Fort Knox will be required to wear a cloth face covering at all times, according to a Fort Knox Public Affairs news release.
The facilities include the visitor center, commissary, main exchange, including the food court, mini mall, Burger King, Chaffee Express, Wilson Express, Class Six, Lindsey Golf Course pro shop, post office and Binter Pharmacy.
This decision is in response to a Department of Defense memo issued Sunday saying a covering needs to be worn when keeping at least six feet of social distance cannot reasonably be assured or maintained.
“It is essential that this instruction be followed, as entrance to these facilities will otherwise be denied,” the release stated. “Free face masks/coverings will also likely not be available at these respective locations, so customers are advised to plan accordingly.”
A cloth face covering can be fashioned from household items or common materials, such as clean T-shirts or other clean cloth that should cover the nose and mouth area.
