
According to a Bowling Green police report, around 2 a.m. on Saturday, an officer saw a possible stolen truck near Russellville Road and University Drive.
The officer followed the truck to Highland Way where it ran a stop sign. When police tried to stop the driver, the truck continued at a high rate of speed, crossed over Smallhouse Road, then crossed over the double yellow line, corrected into their lane, before dropping off into a ditch before hitting a tree. The vehicle continued to until it hit the corner of a house on Highland Way, totaling the vehicle.
The crash damaged the brick on the house and a front window was cracked. The damage to the house, window, and yard is more than $1,000. The damage to the tree and the front yard for a neighboring house is estimated to be more than $1,000.
The driver was a 17-year-old who was flown to Vanderbilt University Pediatric Hospital.
The case will be turned over to the Court Designated Worker’s Office.
