
Authorities have identified the bodies found in the Ohio River Tuesday (8/3) night.
According to Brandenburg Police and the Meade County Coroner have identified female victim as 40 year-old Billie Jean Duke-Gardner of Rhodelia, and the second body recovered was a male identified as 46 year-old Kevin L. Wardrip of Battletown.
Indiana Conservation Officers recovered the bodies of two people from the Ohio River near New Amsterdam Thursday (8/5) morning. Officers from various agencies responded to a report of two bodies being discovered by barge workers. Various agencies had been searching the area since 9 pm Tuesday (8/3) night, when Indiana Conservation Officers located a boat adrift along the Indiana shoreline upstream from where the victims were recovered. The search had centered on area downstream of Brandenburg, where the boat was launched.
Additional assisting agencies included Kentucky State Police, Kentucky Fish and Wildlife, Louisville Metro Police Water Patrol, United States Coast Guard, Meade County Sheriff’s Office, Meade County Fire Department, and the Meade County Coroner’s Office.
An autopsy has been performed on both individuals at Kentucky State Medical Examiners and results are pending. No other details are being released as the investigation remains ongoing by Brandenburg Police.
