Prestonburg police are investigating the escape of an Elizabethtown man who was in the custody of Floyd County Jail. They are seeking the public’s assistance in recovering him.
The Prestonsburg police were called to an escaped inmate at Highlands Appalachian Reginal Healthcare. A man identified as 31 year-old Jesse Karr, of Elizabethtown, was in custody of the Floyd County Jail seeking medical treatment at Appalachian Regional Healthcare. After restraints were removed, he fled from his room and the hospital.
The deputy jailer attempted to pursue him but was unsuccessful.
Karr was in custody on charges of trafficking in illegal drugs and escape.
Karr is 6-feet, 2-inches tall and approximately 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a dark hooded sweatshirt.
Authorities said if you see him, do not approach him, call 911. He is believed to be in the greater Louisville area or Elizabethtown area.
Additional warrants for his arrest have been issued.
