
Kentucky State Police responded to a two-vehicle collision near the 5 mile-marker on the Joe Prather Highway in Hardin County just after 7 a.m. Tuesday that resulted in a fatality.
The preliminary investigation revealed 19 year-old Marvin Mayen, of Bardstown, was operating a 2006 Ford F-150 westbound on the Joe Prather Highway when for unknown reasons, he crossed the center line and into the path of a 2013 KIA Optima being operated by 28 year-old Christopher Doss, of Elizabethtown.
Doss was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Hardin County Coroner’s Office. Mayen was taken by Hardin County EMS to University of Louisville Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
The affected portion of Joe Prather Highway was closed for several hours in order to allow troopers to reconstruct the collision.
Kentucky State Police was assisted at the scene by the Hardin County EMS and the Hardin County Coroner’s Office.
The collision remains under investigation by the Kentucky State Police.
