A woman is dead after a fatal collision in the 500 block of East Dixie Avenue in Elizabethtown on Wednesday morning.
The Elizabethtown Police Department said 29 year-old Sky Williams, of Elizabethtown, was driving a Ford SUV southbound on East Dixie Avenue around 9 a.m. when her vehicle suddenly crossed into the northbound lane where she hit an oncoming flatbed truck, driven by Patrick Peters.
Authorities said Williams was pronounced dead at the scene by the Hardin County Coroner’s Office, and Hardin County EMS took Peters to the hospital with serious injuries.
The crash caused a product spilled that was initially described as being hazardous. It was later determined to be a weed killer with no significant threat to health or risk of igniting.
The highway was closed from the Public Square to New Glendale Road for about three hours.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation by the Elizabethtown Police Department.
