
Members of Meade County Fiscal Court worked through a two hour regular meeting Tuesday(12/12) night.
The court heard from members of the Animal Control Board in relation to how Animal Shelter fee adjustments would be regulated. The latest ordinance amendment addresses a change in fees which was set just a few months ago. Several board members said that the fees schedule was settled after several discussion among board members and it came to unanimous consensus and was added to the updated ordinance to ensure a set prices that was equal for all who use the animal shelter. After a lengthy discussion, the court voted to table the second reading until the wording on how the fee schedule would be set by Fiscal Court could be drafted and added into the ordinance.
In other business, magistrates voted approving Judge Executive Troy Kok to proceed with contract negotiations with the Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife to manage the camp grounds at Otter Creek Park. The court met during a work session which went over various aspects of the proposal. In the proposal, the county would to lease and operate the campground area at Otter Creek Park year round. at least 35 camp sites would be available year round and with others available during the Spring and Summer months. The county estimates that the venture could generate an additional $1 million dollars The court discussed various concerns and infrastructure issues that they would have to deal with including hiring additional staff. The county will submit their proposal to the Kentucky Fish & Wildlife Department for their review.
The court approved the first reading of an amendment to the Code Enforcement Ordinance to add language related to Administrative Search Warrants. County Attorney Sydney Durham said that county never has considered using such powers but in some cases it would provide legal protection for the Code Enforcement Board.
The court approved the estimates for Green Valley Ranch Road and Chablis Lane made the County Road Department per the recently passed private road ordinance. Residents along Green Valley Ranch Road has a year to provide the funding to make the repairs need to bring it up county road standards to bring into the county maintenance system.
County leaders has a lengthy discussion related to the Heavy Industrial ordinance. They dismissed the previous read ordinance to make way for a revised ordinance which would allow for conditional use permits on a case by case basis.
