A pedestrian was killed on Dixie Highway near Valley Station on Saturday night, according to Louisville Metro Police.
LMPD spokesperson Aaron Ellis said police responded to a pedestrian being hit at the intersection of Dixie Highway and Flowervale Lane around 9 p.m. Witnesses of the crash told police a pickup truck was traveling northbound on Dixie Highway and drove into the intersection on a green light.
That is when a man, wearing all dark clothing, stepped into the path of the truck for an unknown reason and was hit.
Ellis said the driver of the truck immediately stopped and called for help. EMS and fire crews arrived on scene and the man was pronounced dead.
The driver of the pickup truck was not injured and spoke to police about what happened.
LMPD’s Traffic Unit is handling the investigation, but no charges are expected.
