Elkton Police arrested a woman on Wednesday after claims that she stole personal items after the death of a man she was the caretaker of.
Maggie Bellamy-Beard, 67, was charged with theft by unlawful taking and tampering with physical evidence.
On January 29 police responded to a possible deceased call at 6:30 p.m. to Harvest Moon Apartments where they discovered a man had died from “apparent natural causes” and that the call came from his caretaker later identified as Bellamy-Beard, according to reports.
On February 11, police were told by family members of the man that items were missing from the apartment including a wallet.
During investigations, police said they determined Bellamy-Beard had taken the items “after discovering him deceased.”
This investigation is ongoing with further charges pending, according to police.
