A Louisville man accused of murdering his wife appeared in court for the first time Thursday.
Tho Luong, 41, is accused of shooting and killing Kim Nguyen in January and then taking off to his mother’s house in North Carolina. Luong’s mother told a detective her son admitted to killing Nguyen and that he was going to kill himself.
Louisville Metro police said there were multiple welfare checks for Nguyen the week before she was found dead in her home. Luong was arrested in January by Maryland State police.
During his arraignment Thursday morning, bond for Luong was raised from $250,000 to $1 million cash. The Jefferson County Attorney’s Office asked for the bond increase telling the judge Luong made threats to kill himself and other people.
Luong currently remains in custody at Louisville Metro Corrections. If the bond is posted, he will be placed into the Home Incarceration Program.
His next court appearance is set for February 23.
