Former Bloomfield Police Chief Harry Cambron was indicted Wednesday for falsely accusing a city employee of committing numerous crimes of corruption.
According to court documents, Cambron was indicted for one count of tampering with evidence, one count of falsely reporting an incident and one count of official misconduct.
The documents say that between May 19 and June 20 of 2023, Cambron falsely reported that a Bloomfield employee traded sexual favors for overdue bills, took funds from the Crusade for Children, took funds from the water dispenser, made personal purchases on the city’s credit card, and purchased fuel for a non-city employee using the city’s credit card, knowing that there was no evidence of any of the crimes occurring.
The indictment also charges Cambron with withholding evidence in the investigation into that employee.
Cambron is currently scheduled to be arraigned for the crimes on March 7th, 2024 at 1 p.m.
