A woman is facing charges after police in Madisonville say she stole over $4,000 from a restaurant.
According to a release, police were called to a McDonald’s in the 1400 block of North Main Street in reference to a theft complaint.
Police say further investigation revealed 52-year-old Michelle Brown as a suspect.
A release shows four cash deposits between February 9 and February 16 totaling to $4,426.41 had been stolen from the safe.
Brown was working at the restaurant at the time.
On Monday, police say they went to serve a search warrant on a hotel room at Days Inn that Brown was staying in.
When police arrived, they discovered two other people were inside the room.
Officers say one of those people jumped from a second story window to avoid them.
Drugs and paraphernalia were also found in the hotel room.
All occupants were arrested on multiple charges.
Police say Brown admitted to stealing the money, but said she spent all of it already. Brown said she stole the money “to avoid being homeless.”
Brown was then arrested and booked into the Hopkins County Jail where she is facing multiple charges.
