A man from Grayson County was arrested after police say he broke into an animal shelter and released more than a dozen dogs from their enclosures.
Leitchfield Police say surveillance footage shows Michael Barker walking into the Leitchfield Animal Shelter and letting out 16 dogs and leaving with a small white one.
When officers responded to a report of a break-in at the facility Tuesday, they found multiple dogs were released from their kennels and one was found dead.
Surveillance showed the released dogs fighting, which police believe led to the one death and injuries of four other dogs.
Leitchfield Police requested a warrant for Baker’s arrest and took him into custody at his home without incident Tuesday night.
The small, white dog Baker left with has not been found and Baker is facing several charges, including burglary, trespassing and cruelty to animals.
