
A 42-year-old man died after he was hit by a driver who didn’t stop in the Okolona neighborhood early Thursday morning.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has the identified the victim as Calvin Ray Bloyd, who died at UofL Hospital just after 5 a.m. from blunt force injuries sustained in a motor vehicle collision.
It happened around 4:15 a.m., according to a news release from Louisville Metro Police spokesperson Dwight Mitchell. Officers received a call about a crash involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Fern Valley Road and Old Shepherdsville Road.
Investigators determined Bloyd was standing outside his stopped vehicle in the eastbound lanes of Fern Valley Road when he was hit by a driver who didn’t stop.
Bloyd was then hit by a second vehicle, a pickup truck, according to the news release. The driver of the pickup stayed at the scene.
The incident remains under investigation by the Louisville Metro Police Department’s Traffic Unit.
