A man is dead in Barren County after he was reportedly stabbed to death while in bed.
The Barren County Sheriff’s Office responded to a dispatch call of an unresponsive male at a residence on Lee Fendell Road at 11:21 p.m. on Thursday.
Upon arrival, deputies found 55 year-old Robert Fields, of Glasgow, inside his bedroom dead with several stab wounds.
A suspect was located in the area, despite reports of him fleeing the scene before the arrival of authorities.
Authorities identified the suspect as 26 year-old Dedontae Morrison, of Glasgow.
Morrison told detectives that he had entered Fields’ room and stabbed him while he was in bed. Morrison did not provide any further comments as to why he stabbed Fields to death.
He was arrested and charged with murder and tampering with physical evidence.
He is currently being held in the Barren County Detention Center under a $500,000 cash bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on April 8.
