A woman reported missing from her home near Shelbyville was found dead Wednesday, according to Shelby County authorities.
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office says Mary Ann Swope was last seen walking away from her home on Hempridge Road Monday night around 8 p.m. Someone reported her missing on Tuesday when they found she wasn’t at her home.
The sheriff’s office said a search was immediately conducted, but had to be called off because of Tuesday’s severe weather. Crews started looking for her again on Wednesday, but their search came to an end around 3:30 p.m. when Swope’s body was found.
Deputies don’t believe foul play was involved at this time, but their investigation is ongoing. Swope’s body was taken to the Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office where an autopsy will be conducted to determine her cause of death.
