The Hopkins County Coroner says eight-year-old Trey Harris’s death was caused by fentanyl intoxication.
The manner of death is ruled undetermined.
Harris is the child who died in March, sparking the health department to warn the public to stop eating strawberries sold at a fundraiser.
Health officials say the FDA has ruled there was nothing wrong with the strawberries.
Harris’ stepfather, 33 year-old Antonio Person, of Madisonville, was arrested on fentanyl trafficking charges during the investigation.
He is now charged with manslaughter and is being held in the Hopkins County Jail under a $1 million cash bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on April 12.
