A Jefferson County notary was arrested Monday after police say she helped cover up her partner’s stolen vehicle.
According to arrest documents, 24 year-old Aylin Arias was arrested for using her position as a notary to notarize a counterfeit vehicle bill of sale for the father of her two children. Documents say she did it to “provide the appearance of legitimacy for the vehicle bearing a false VIN number” that was reported stolen out of Miami, Florida.
The vehicle, which was a Jeep Gladiator pickup truck, was valued at over $10,000.
Jefferson County Deputies made the arrest after executing a search warrant at Arias’ home. Inside, they found the fake bill of sale for the truck.
The bill of sale was supposedly from Dina Credit Auto Sales, a business that has been closed since 2022. However, according to the bill of sale, the vehicle was “sold” to Arias’ partner on May 20, 2023. The signature on the document was also reportedly forged.
Arias has now been booked into the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections and charged with forgery, perjury, official misconduct and receiving stolen property.
