
Kentucky State Police arrested two individuals and took another into custody in Hopkins County Thursday night after a car chase through Dawson Springs.
Kentucky State Police said it happened around 11:36 p.m. and started after an attempt to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation. They said the driver failed to stop. Subsequently, a vehicle pursuit occurred through Dawson Springs.
During the pursuit, gunshots were fired at the trooper from the suspect vehicle.
Through an investigation, Kentucky State Police, the Madisonville Police Department and the Dawson Springs Police Department found and arrested the driver, 33-year-old Kristopher Barker from Hiram, Georgia. They also arrested 32-year-old Tanner Southerland from Dawson Springs, Kentucky.
Barker was charged with conspiracy to attempted murder of a police officer, fleeing or evading police, reckless driving and driving with no taillights.
Southerland is charged with attempted murder of a police officer.
During those arrests, 27-year-old Kirsten Bean of Dawson Springs, was taken into custody on multiple outstanding warrants for unrelated charges out of Hopkins County. Some of the warrants are for failing to appear on multiple drug charges, including trafficking in both controlled substances and marijuana.
All three individuals are in the Hopkins County Detention Center.
