Kentucky State Police Post 15 is investigating a vehicle collision and shooting that occurred in Adair County Saturday morning.
Kentucky State Police received a call around 7:55 a.m. from the Adair County Sheriff’s Office for assistance.
The preliminary investigation revealed 50-year-old Gregory J. Willis and 46-year-old Mark Hatcher, both from Columbia, got into a vehicle collision on KY 704. Immediately after that, Willis discharged a firearm, striking Hatcher.
The passenger in Hatcher’s vehicle, 23-year-old William Feese, of Columbia, was injured during the collision. Both Feese and Hatcher were hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
Willis fled the scene before law enforcement arrived. Troopers later located him around 1:56 p.m. in a wooded area on Paul Frankum Road in Adair County.
He was arrested without incident and charged with first-degree assault.
Willis is currently in the Adair County Detention Center with a $500,000 cash bond.
