One person is dead and another is in custody after a hit-and-run crash in the Pleasure Ridge Park neighborhood on Dixie Highway early Thursday morning.
Around 3:30 a.m. officers responded to a report of a hit-and-run collision involving a pedestrian in the 7800 block of Dixie Highway, according to a written statement from Louisville Metro Police Department’s spokesperson Dwight Mitchell.
That is where officers found a deceased male lying in the roadway.
People who witnessed the collision and the vehicle leaving the scene were able to give officers a description that helped them locate the vehicle and arrest the driver, Kevonte Liwain Mitchell.
He is charged with leaving the scene of an accident, operating on a suspended or revoked license, and failure to maintain proper insurance.
LMPD’s Traffic Unit is handling the investigation.
