Two children are in the hospital after being hit by a car in the Jacobs neighborhood Saturday afternoon, according to Louisville Metro police.
LMPD spokesperson Aaron Ellis said around 3:25 p.m. officers were called to the 3600 block of Parthenia Avenue. An initial investigation and a witness statement showed that a car was driving fast when it hit a 7-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl who happened to be in the street. The driver initially stopped but police say he did not help the kids.
EMS was called to the scene and both children were taken to Norton Children’s Hospital. The boy is facing life-threatening injuries, but the girl is expected to survive.
An off-duty Jefferson County Deputy Sheriff found the driver and the car not far from the scene and detained him. Police say he will be facing charges. The name of the driver and the charges have not been released.
