A man was arrested Friday in connection to a shooting in the parking lot of a shopping center on Breckenridge Lane in St. Matthews.
Officers responded to the parking lot of Books-A-Million in the 900 block of Breckenridge Lane around 5:30 p.m. for an altercation between a man and a woman, according to St. Matthews Police Chief Barry Wilkerson.
Once on scene, police found the woman had been shot by the man. She was transported to University of Louisville Hospital and was listed as stable.
According to court documents, 27-year-old Arik Brooks, of Louisville, was arrested and has been initially charged with attempted murder.
Court documents say officers responded on a man who was “waiving his gun around, screaming and stumbling” in the area of Frankfort Avenue and Crestmoor Avenue in the Crescent Hill neighborhood.
Police said his description matched that of the St. Matthews shooting suspect. Court documents say Brooks was armed with a Draco AK-47 Pistol.
The victim told police that Brooks had fired shots inside a vehicle in the parking lot while others were also in the car.
Brooks is set to appear in court on Monday.
