
A 28-year-old man died in a multi-vehicle crash in Green County on Friday, according to Kentucky State Police.
Larry Waters, 49 of Greensburg, was arrested and charged with vehicular homicide after the crash on West Buckner Hill Road around 7:23 p.m.
According to police, Waters was traveling west on West Buckner Hill Road in a 1990 Chevrolet Lumina when he approached a 2013 Jeep Wrangler traveling eastbound being driven by 30 year-old Justin Smith, of Greensburg.
Police said Waters’ vehicle crossed the center of the roadway as he approached Smith’s vehicle. Smith steered onto an earth embankment outside the right shoulder of the roadway, but the vehicles crashed in a “sideswipe manner,” according to Kentucky State Police.
The Jeep was overturned and four occupants were ejected from it.
Blake Mitchell, a Greensburg man, was a passenger in the Jeep. He was taken to University of Louisville Hospital, but died. Smith was also taken to University of Louisville Hospital for treatment of severe injuries.
Two other Greensburg men thrown from the Jeep refused medical treatment at the scene.
Waters also refused medical treatment at the scene. He was arrested by a Kentucky State Police trooper.
Along with vehicular homicide, Waters was charged with DUI, assault, wanton endangerment. Waters was booked in the Taylor County Detention Center.
