A man wanted on at least seven different felony warrants in multiple states has been arrested by Louisville Metro police.
Court documents say 38 year-old Joseph Devon Johnson, of Louisville, has been on the run since December 2022, when he allegedly assaulted an officer who had just booked him and ran from the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections.
Since then, police say Johnson has been spotted and recorded in numerous crimes, most of which involving some sort of shoplifting from retail stores in the Louisville area.
In two cases, Johnson is accused of assaulting store employees who tried to stop him from taking items. He was cited as taking items from Target, Home Depot and Victoria’s Secret.
Louisville Metro Police Department said Johnson was arrested at Derby City Gaming on South 4th Street by an off-duty officer who recognized him. The officer called for backup and Johnson was arrested.
Johnson appeared in jail court Monday morning, facing charges from ten different active felony cases in Kentucky. Police say he also has active cases in Indiana and Tennessee.
A judge set his bond at $75,000. He will have to front all of the money if he wants to get out of jail this time, as he is considered a flight risk.
