The man charged in a deadly 2022 shooting at a Shively liquor store has taken a plea deal.
Javontae Moore pleaded guilty Friday to first-degree manslaughter in the shooting death of 29-year-old Jordin Barnes. He was originally charged with murder.
Under the deal, Moore will get a 10 year sentence and must serve at least 85% before he is eligible for parole.
The shooting happened on June 5, 2022 at Dixie Liquor, on Dixie Highway near San Jose Avenue.
Moore was scheduled for trial in September. Prosecutors said they didn’t want to take their chances with a jury.
Barnes’ family was in the courtroom and agreed to the deal.
Sentencing is set for August 14.
