All of the lanes on the Gene Snyder Greenway just past the Preston Highway exit ramps were blocked for hours early Monday morning.
A deadly wrong-way crash happened there at about 3:40 a.m. Louisville Metro police said a pickup truck was traveling east in the westbound lanes and hit another pickup truck traveling west in the westbound lanes. EMS and Okolona firefighters were called after both of the pickup trucks caught on fire.
Both of the drivers died at the scene and it was confirmed they were the only ones involved in the crash. It is not known why the one driver was going the wrong-way.
The LMPD’s Traffic Unit is investigating the crash.
