
A Louisville man accused of kidnapping his child and shooting the mother of the child to death has has been found guilty.
According to a media release from the Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney, a jury found 34 year-old Christopher Lee Gordon guilty of murder, assault in the first degree, and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. The same jury also found Gordon guilty of being a persistent felony offender. They recommended Gordon receive a life sentence on the murder conviction.
Gordon was on trial for the February 27, 2022 death of Angelica James. Louisville Metro police officers that responded to a call in the 4100 block of Quiet Way in the Newburg neighborhood around 4 p.m. found James inside a car dead from multiple gunshot wounds. Her 10-year-old son was also in the car at the time of the shooting and was wounded.
Jefferson Commonwealth’s Attorney Gerina D. Whethers, Louisville’s chief prosecutor, supports the jury’s decision.
The formal sentencing hearing will be held August 5.
