A man linked to several thefts of copper wire in Grayson County remains at large.
The Grayson County Sheriff’s Office said an investigation that started in January found several hundred feet of wire containing copper was stolen in and around the Caneyville area.
The wire was stolen from Windstream Communication, according to the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office.
Through surveillance video, tracking devices and assistance from Windstream employees, the sheriff’s office developed suspects.
They were identified as 38 year-old Timothy P. Polston and 54 year-old Anthony G. Frank, both of Caneyville.
The wire thefts caused interruption in Windstream service throughout the Caneyville area, according to the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office.
It is estimated the thefts and vandalism caused over $33,000 in damages. Labor hours to repair, time to restore services and money lost due to the downtime is estimated to be over $100,000.
A Grayson County grand jury indicted Polston and Frank on charges of theft by unlawful taking over $1000 but under $10,000, first-degree criminal mischief and interfering with communications.
Authorities served Polston with the indictment warrant because he was already jailed for violating his probation/parole terms. Frank remains at large.
