More counterfeit products were stopped from making it to their destination by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport this week.
Within a 24-hour period, Customs and Border Protection officers intercepted three separate shipments containing 2,387 pieces of fake designer jewelry like rings, bracelets and necklaces. The three shipments have a combined suggested retail price of more than $10.8 million.
The first shipment, coming from China, contained a total of 1,466 pieces of counterfeit jewelry from luxury brands like Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Dior, Prada, Tiffany and Rolex. The shipment was on its way to a residence in Brooklyn, New York, and estimated to be worth more than $5.13 million.
Customs and Border Protection officers then confiscated two more shipments on July 2, also from China, but going to different locations in Miami, Florida. In all, a total of 921 additional pieces of counterfeit jewelry with brands like Cartier, Van Cleef and Arpels were seized, valued at more than $4.95 million.
