A woman is dead after a hit-and-run in the Russell neighborhood late Saturday night, according to Louisville Metro police.
LMPD spokesperson John Bradley said around 11:55 p.m. officers were called to the intersection of 16th and Jefferson where they found a 26-year-old who had been hit by a car. She was taken to UofL Hospital where she later died.
Bradley said police believe a white sedan, possibly a Mazda, hit the woman. They believe the car was speeding south on 16th Street when it hit the woman in the road and continued driving.
LMPD’s Traffic Unit is investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call the anonymous tip line at 502-574-LMPD (5673) or use the LMPD Crime Tip Portal.
