A 32 year-old Vine Grove woman was arrested and charged with murder after a shooting in south Louisville early Monday morning.
According to Louisville Metro Police, a woman was shot and killed in the 8000 block of Glimmer Way, near New Cut Road, around 2 a.m. When police arrived on scene, they found a woman who had been shot in the head. She died at the scene, but hasn’t been identified.
Stephanie Hill was arrested in connection to the shooting. Hill was charged with murder, robbery, tampering with physical evidence and possession of a controlled substance, according to police.
According to an arrest citation, Hill was identified as a suspected in the murder after getting statements from witnesses. She was found nine hours after the shooting, at a Circle K gas station on New Cut Road.
After being read her rights, police said Hill told a detective she was the only person with the victim at the time of the shooting, and admitted to “manipulating the firearm at the time of the gun being discharged,” causing the victim’s death.
The arrest slip also states Hill admitted to fleeing the scene after the shooting, and tossing the gun in an attempt to evade police.
When she was arrested, police said she had the victim’s cell phone and admitted to officers she left with the phone after the murder. Police said Hill also told them she had been sleeping in the woods near the scene to avoid being arrested, and attempted to make phone calls to be picked up from the scene to leave the area.
Police said Hill was found with suspected heroin when she was being taken into custody.
She’s being held at the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections and is scheduled to be arraigned in court Tuesday morning.
LMPD’s Homicide Unit is investigating the case.
