The Shelbyville Police Department wants shoppers throughout Shelby County to be on the lookout for credit card skimmers.
Shelbyville police received a call to a grocery store last week for a reported credit card skimmer inside the business.
A credit card skimmer can get a shopper’s card data and can record the cardholder’s PIN entries, according to safety information from the FBI. These devices can be on or inside of places of transaction like gas pumps or ATMs and they can be difficult to spot.
Anyone with information can report it to the Shelbyville Police Department since the incident is still being investigated. Shoppers in the Shelbyville community who detects a credit card skimmer or has been a scam victim from these pieces of equipment used for fraudulent activities can call SPD at (502) 633-2326 or Crime Stoppers at (502) 633-4500.
Authorities also recently reported credit card skimmers found in the Lexington area as well.
