Hours after Louisville Metro police found a person shot inside a car in the Pleasure Ridge Park neighborhood, a man was arrested and charged with murder.
Officers were originally called to a crash Friday in the 5800 block of Greenwood Road. They found a car crashed into a pole near Greenwood Elementary School with a man shot in the head inside, according to Louisville Metro Police. The man died by the time he arrived at UofL Hospital.
According to officials, witnesses said after the crash, a man got out of the vehicle and ran away.
An arrest report said a man who fit the description of a person seen fleeing the scene, 31-year-old Patrick Anderson, was detained. Police then obtained surveillance video that showed Anderson getting into the victim’s car on the rear passenger side immediately prior to the shooting.
Officials said Anderson admitted to being inside the car. Multiple shell casings were found inside the vehicle, but no weapon has yet been located.
Anderson is charged with murder, tampering with physical evidence, and being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun. Additionally, he is facing drug possession charges.
Anderson was lodged in the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections where his bond has been set at $500,000.
