A Louisville-area paramedic died while swimming at Barren River Lake on Monday afternoon.
The man was identified as 35 year-old Christian Smith, from Louisville.
Cody Fox with Kentucky Fish and Wildlife said a call came in around 3:25 p.m., and a man was later recovered in a cove near the state park.
Fox says witnesses told Fish and Wildlife he jumped off the back of a boat and never resurfaced.
Smith was not wearing a life jacket.
Smith was a sergeant paramedic at Anchorage Middletown Fire & EMS in Louisville and had been with the department since 2014.
Fox said no foul play is suspected at this time.
The case remains under investigation.
