Two men were charged with murder after a shooting near West Broadway on Saturday, according to court documents.
Louisville Metro Police said officers responded to a shooting in the 1000 block of West Broadway around 5:30 p.m. on July 27. The man, who hasn’t been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Adrian Burdette, 32, was arrested on Sunday in connection to the shooting.
According to court documents, Burdette is shown on surveillance video at the intersections of South 10th Street and Esquire Alley firing multiple shots at the victim.
Detectives identified Burdette as a possible suspect in the shooting and he was determined to the be shooter, according to court documents. Burdette admitted to police that he shot the man, according to police.
Burdette was charged with murder and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. He pleaded not guilty on Monday and a $500,000 bond was set.
Ja’merick Smith, 31, was arrested on Tuesday and charged with murder (complicity). According to court documents, Smith was identified as a possible accomplice to Burdette. Smith arrived with Burdette and walked into an area in search for the victim, according to police.
Police said Smith initiated physical contact with the victim prior to the shooting. He then helped Burdette leave the area by getting a car they arrived in. According to court documents, Smith admitted to police that he was the man in the surveillance footage and helped Burdette escape the scene.
