A Monday afternoon crash on I-64 West coming from Shelby County near the Gene Snyder left one man dead and sent two people to the hospital.
The crash happened around 4:50 p.m. when traffic had already slowed because of construction and heavy congestion, according to Louisville police. A semi-truck in the center lane then crashed into a pickup truck causing a chain-reaction collision ending in five vehicles being damaged.
LMPD said the driver of the pickup truck died before he could be taken to the hospital. No one else was in the truck with him. Two adults from one of the other cars were taken to UofL Hospital where they are expected to survive. The driver of the semi wasn’t hurt, and no other injuries were reported.
All lanes and the right shoulder were blocked for over three hours while police reconstructed the crash scene.
