A possible suspect in the fatal shooting of a woman Friday morning in Louisville took his own life, according to police.
Louisville Metro Police said officers from its Fugitive Unit and SWAT were following leads from the homicide that happened just after 5 a.m. in the 2200 block of Liverpool Lane, which is off Bardstown Road near West Beuchel, when it happened.
LMPD Maj. Russ Miller said detectives investigating leads in the homicide were in the area of Kramers Lane, which is near Cane Run Road in the St. Denis neighborhood, around 1:30 p.m. That is when members of the Fugitive Unit located the man they believe shot the woman several times, but he took off.
Miller said the man shot himself outside a mobile home park, and noted that Louisville Metro Police Department officers did not fire their weapons. He did not have any information on the relationship between the suspect and victim, who has not been identified.
Miller said he believes bodycam footage of the incident will be released in 10 business days, which is standard procedure anytime Louisville Metro Police officers are involved in a shooting.
