The mother of the baby that was abandoned at the Humana Waterside building on East Washington Street Thursday reached out to Louisville Police, according to a spokesperson.
Louisville Metro Police responded to a call of service around noon of a baby left at that location in the 100 block of East Washington Street. Officers met with security officials at Humana and were told that an unknown man had entered the building and said he had a baby. He sat the baby down and then walked out.
The baby appeared to be healthy but was taken to Norton Children’s Hospital to be checked out. OSPI-CACU and Child Protective Services responded to the hospital.
Louisville Metro Police provided an update that all parties have been identified and that the baby is okay.
The man is described as a 25-35 Black man with short hair and a beard. He was seen wearing grey sweatpants and a white t-shirt and block hoodie with red and white shoes. Police do not know the relationship between the man and the baby.
Louisville Metro Police Department is working to locate the man and learn more about the incident. They ask if you have any information to call 911 or the anonymous tip line at 502-574-LMPD.
