Bowling Green Police responded to an assault call just after 4 p.m. Saturday in the 800 block of Roselawn Way and found two people with gunshot wounds .
Officer Ronnie Ward said when officers arrived, a man was sitting on a bed handling a weapon, with his daughter and granddaughter beside him.
He said the gun discharged and a bullet went through his hand, then through his granddaughter. The bullet then exited the child.
She was taken to a hospital in Nashville and is in stable condition.
As of right now, no charges have been filed. The investigation is ongoing.
