The former director of Jefferson County Youth Corrections has been indicted by a grand jury.
Toni Rice is the former director. She resigned as the director of Youth Transitional Services in August amid an ongoing investigation surrounding a crash involving her government-issued vehicle in July.
Rice’s metro vehicle was found crashed underneath a Louisville overpass. Rice told police it had been stolen. According to a newly released indictment received by the Jefferson County Commonwealth’s attorney, Rice is now charged with wrecking that vehicle and with trying to cover it up.
The indictment charges Rice with eight criminal counts including criminal mischief, falsely reporting an incident, fabricating evidence, and with intimidating two witnesses who were summoned to testify about the incident.
The document does not go into detail about how Rice allegedly intimidated those two witnesses. Rice is expected to appear in court on Monday to answer to these charges before a judge for the first time.
