Kentucky State Police received a call in reference to a collision at the 22 mile marker on northbound Interstate 65 around 7 p.m. Friday.
A preliminary investigation indicates that a 1997 Ford f-150, operated by 37 year-old Manuel Valenzuela Garcia of Bowling Green, was traveling on Cumberland Trace Road. The vehicle left the roadway, ran through a fence, and entered Interstate 65 north bound colliding with a 2017 Freightliner operated by 35 year-old Abdiaziz Shirdon of Columbus, Ohio.
Garcia was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Warren County Coroner’s Office. Shirdon was taken to the Bowling Green Medical Center where he was treated for his injuries.
The accident remains under investigation by the Kentucky State Police.
