Louisville police are investigating a homicide after a man was found dead near Petersburg Park in the Newburg neighborhood Monday morning.
Louisville Metro Police spokesperson John Bradley said officers responded just after 11:30 a.m. to the intersection of East Indian Trail and Petersburg Road.
He said said officers responded to a deceased man that suffered from traumatic wounds of some nature. Police said the body of a Hispanic man in his 20s was found in a wooded area near the intersection.
LMPD 6th Division Maj. Mindy Vance said it was a call that came in from a passerby saying they saw a subject in the wooded area that was unresponsive. She said the injuries are consistent with a criminal homicide and not a natural death.
The LMPD Homicide Unit is investigating the case, but there are no suspects at this time.
If anyone was in the area at the time or may have information, they are asked to call the anonymous police tip line at 502-574-LMPD (5673) or use the Crime Tip Portal.
