A semi-truck caught fire on I-65 between Jefferson Street and Kennedy Bridge Saturday evening.
Louisville police said the crash happened around 4:48 p.m. when the driver lost control of the semi and hit the concrete median, causing the tractor and trailer to catch fire.
A spokesperson for Louisville Metro Police Department confirmed the driver was killed in the crash.
This accident comes shortly after another accident involving a semi overturning near the same area. Kentucky Transportation Cabinet confirmed the two crashes were unrelated.
The pair of crashes closed down I-65 southbound for several hours Saturday. The interstate ultimately reopened around 9:15 p.m.
