Louisville police arrested a man who they said shot someone at a Circle K gas station while trying to steal their necklace.
The shooting happened on September 30 on St. Andrews Church Road. An arrest citation said police found a man shot in the chest inside a car. The victim told officers that 25 year-old Leshaun Murray had tried to rob him of his chain and then shot him in the process.
The arrest citation said Murray tried to get into the man’s car and then went to his car to get a rifle. Murray then put the rifle inside the victim’s car and fired a shot, according to the citation.
Surveillance video from nearby business, Ace Liquors, shows what led up to the shooting.
The video shows a man, who police believe is Murray, getting out of his car with a rifle and head to the victims car.
The victim then tried to drive away but crashed into another car in the gas station parking lot where police ended up finding him.
Police said Murray got in his car and drove off. Officers tried to pull him over but said Murray sped off, cutting through a parking lot in an attempt to escape.
He was later arrested and taken to the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections. He is charged with assault, attempted robbery, fleeing police, and possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.
The shooting was also captured on video at the Circle K gas station.
The victim is expected to survive.
