Many residents are preparing their yards for the upcoming fall season with the recent rainfall and cooler temperatures.
This often includes burning yard waste. However, it is important to follow local regulations and safety guidelines.
Most counties have lifted the burn ban due to drought conditions. However, residents must still adhere to the guidelines set forth by the National Forest Service. This time of year burning of brush and limbs only are allowed from 6 p.m. until 6 a.m.
It is important to remember to keep a water source nearby when burning outdoors. If the fire gets out of control, call 911 immediately.
Before burning, residents should reach out to their local area fire department to see if a burn permit is required.
The fall burn season runs from October 1 through December 15.
